Eclipse's Adventures in LINUX

I loaded Red HatLINUX on my old P120.

The install went smoothly.  The only glitch I ran into (install not recognizing my old NE2000 clone Ethernet NIC) was covered by the FAQ in the install manual.

I'll be documenting my fun and games with LINUX here as they happen.

Disclaimer: I've been a UNIX user for over 10 years.  So I've got ahead start on the average WINTEL type who decides to throw Mickeysoft to the wind and jump on the LINUX bandwagon

I've got my modem working and so I'm on the Net with LINUX.

On the downside, while the software recognizes my Ethernet NIC, I don't get a light on the switch.  I guess it's time to update my NIC.

One downside to this is that I'm using an old VGA monitor I had kept around to play really old PC games (OGRE, Car Wars & Nine Princes in Amber), so the graphic output (and screen size) leave something to be desired.  Time to scrounge a new monitor too..

I've had to take that system apart for spares. I'm now working on getting Mandrake LINUX up and running on an old Dell 266 PII system.

Damn, it's been a while since I've updated this. I've got Mandrake running on an old laptop.
It's a very handy backup system. Email, browsers, editors, office programs. All for the cost of downloading the CD images.

Long overdue update. I have Ubuntu running on an old Dell desktop. A very handy backup system. I've got Firefox 2.0 and Thunderbird running on it.
I'd perfer a Linux version of Eudora, but oh well...

Here is a picture of TUX, the Linux Pengin. Cute little fellow isn't he?
