A few words on politics in general and my politics.
My personal political views are all over the map.
Some examples:
What part of 'shall not be infringed don't you understand.' I do support the Second Amendment (Which is a right of the People), and the Fourth, and First, and the Fifth, and so on.
Hetrosexuality is not a requirement for patriotism. Sexual harrasment is harrasment regardless of the plumbing of the harrasser or the victim. As
that Conservative Icon, the Late Senator Barry Goldwater said, "You don't have to be straight to shoot straight.
Same Sex Marriages: Welcome to the wonderful world of divorce courts, ugly child custody cases, and marriage tax penalties.
You do not have the right to walk into The Uptight Church of Saint Hetboy the Breeder and force them to share your views & demand that they marry you. The Church of Saint Bruce the Dress Maker will more than happy for your business. Religious ceremonies are determined by the religion in question. If you really want a religious wedding, you can get one. It may not be the one you want though. I'm an ordained minister, and I'll perform a religious wedding for you regardless of gender or number of participants. For a fee of course, and it's going to be my religious ceremony, not yours.
Civil marriages on the other hand, are just a contract regulated by the state. My personal view is that most of those arguing for same-sex and poly marriage are asking the wrong damn question. You shouldn't be begging the State for permission, you should be asking what damn business is it of the state to regulate who can enter a contract? As long as all of the parties are of legal age and can enter a legally a contract, attempting to regulate the participants is a clear violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.
I think abortion should be safe, legal, and rare. Many Far Left Extremist Liberals would not agree that I am Pro-Choice, because
I don't believe that abortions should be funded by public tax dollars, and I do not think that some common sense laws deny any civil rights. These include:
A 24 to 72 hour cooling off period prior to an abortion. This is a major decision. A human life will be ended by the procedure. Take the time to think it over.
Minors (i.e. children under the age of 18) should not be able to have an abortion without at least notifying her parents at least 72 hours prior to the procedure.
Partial Birth Abortions should be restricted, by law, to cases where the mother's life is in danger. Abortions, when done, should be done early. It's much safer. In the case of Partial Birth Abortions, if the doctor removed the child without crushing it's skull and sucking out his/her brains, and put the child in an incubator, the child would live.
