Culture of Corruption

Thursday, March 27th, 2014

Plenty of democrats in the news lately.  Of course, the only way you can tell they are democrats is because the so called “reporters” failed to mention their party affiliation in stories detailing how they have been arrested for various charges of corruption and fraud.

First up, we have the Mayor of Charlotte, NC.  The democrat mayor and former City Councilman Cannon allegedly accepted about $50,000 in cash, airline tickets, and use of a luxury apartment from undercover FBI agents posing as real estate developers, reports WSOC-TV. That includes a $20,000 payment made right in the mayor’s office last month, say the feds.”

Yeland Lee, a democrat state senator in California has been arrested on charges on bribery, public corruption, and gun running. Lee has been a strong and vocal opponent of the Second Amendment rights of California citizens, so he is pegging the hypocrisy meter here.

Two more California state senate democrats have been hit with charges of corruption. Rod Wright and Rod Colderon. Colderon personally is facing a whopping 24 felony charges!

In democrat controlled Rhode Island, Gordon Fox the Speaker of the House and, of course, a democrat, resigned his leadership post right after federal agent raided his home and office, and removed boxes of materials.

In an action that will get the reporter reprimanded, The New York Observer correctly identified NY Assemblyman Bill Scarborough as a democrat.  His offices were raided by the FBI.  Charges likely to follow.

The epicenter of democrat corruption, Illinois, home state of our Dear Leader, can’t be left out of this mix of criminal corruption. Keith Farnham, a state representative, and of course, a democrat, resigned while facing child pornography charges.

Ed Driscoll calls the democrats a criminal organization masquerading as a political party.  The LA Times calls democrats in handcuffs “an image problem.” To those of us paying attention, it is business as usual for the party of corruption.

Update:  From the Business Insider, we find that “Democratic Charlotte, N.C. Mayor Patrick Cannon allegedly promised he would use a meeting with President Barack Obama to press for streetcar project funding that was a major concern for someone who gave him multiple bribes, according to federal court documents.”  Which leads us to this question. What did Obama know and when did he know it?

Quote of the Day

“The key to understanding liberals is realizing that they are immune to argument. The concept underlying the idea of a debate is that facts and reasoning can lead one to change his previous conclusions. But liberals begin with their conclusions; facts and reasoning that may undermine the preexisting conclusion must be at least ignored, if not actively attacked. This is why you see liberals shouting about jailing global warming deniers as blizzards rage outside.

The problem liberals always face is that the world refuses to honor their preconceived notions. Sometimes we get lucky and the liberal wises up, at least a little. For instance, Jimmy Carter woke up to the fact that the Soviet Union was composed of genuine bastards when they invaded Afghanistan, and in fits and starts he took action. This shocking burst of foreign policy competence is almost single-handedly responsible for raising Carter’s ranking on the list of America’s greatest presidents all the way up to 39th. Zombie Millard Fillmore was totally bummed.

Now we are in the almost unimaginable position of looking back at Jimmy Carter as an example of comparatively sure, savvy leadership. The Russians invaded Afghanistan and Carter armed the rebels. The Russians invaded Crimea and Barack Obama went on Ellen to hear the hostess gush about how much America loves Obamacare.”

Logan’s Run

We have to travel back to 1976 for this SciFi flick staring Michael York and Jenny Agutter. Based on the much better book, it tells the story of a Post-apocalyptic society where people are limited to 30 years of life (21 in the much harsher book). Logan is a “Sandman”, a government official who hunts down and kills people who want to live longer than the government allows. Excellent special effects for when it was made, and it has Jenny Agutter.

Big Boys Don’t Cry by Tom Kratman

Tom Kratman writes a Bolo Novella. OK, they aren’t called “Bolos”, but Parthas. They are just huge, tank like, war machines with an AI core, that are pretty damn smart by the time they reach revs in the late thirties. Let’s just say that in this morality play, the Partha’s human masters do things to them that no Bolo (or Partha) should have to live through. I know a few things about the military, military history, and training. Subjects that Kratman is an expert on, and all three play a part in this story. An interesting read, with a happier ending than you would expect.

“The Obama economy is now the minimum wage economy. I think we can do better than that, I think America can do better than that.”

“Who is going to be the first to apologize to Mitt Romney? The President, the Vice President or Hillary Rodham Clinton? All three mocked the GOP presidential candidate in 2012 when he called Russia “our number one geopolitical foe.”

Obama said his opponent was “stuck in a Cold War mind warp.” Clinton, then Secretary of State, offered her two cents, saying, “In many of the areas where we are working to solve problems, Russia has been an ally.”

Biden added that “This is not 1956.”

“The president doesn’t trust his commander, can’t stand Karzai, doesn’t believe in his own strategy and doesn’t consider the war to be his. For him, it’s all about getting out.”

— Robert Gates, former Obama administration Secretary of Defense on our Dear Leader‘s attitude toward Afghanistan.
