Morning Roundup

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Let’s start with crude oil prices continuing their climb to rise above $71 a barrel. Remember what happened last summer with a sharp spike in oil prices? That’s right kids, a companion sharp spike in inflation! Pretty much everything you buy had to be shipped in, at least part of the way, by truck. A spike in inflation, especially in food prices, is a tax on everyone, with the poor the hardest hit. What is our Dear Leader going to do about it? The answer to that question is, not a damn thing. Remember that he thinks gas prices up around $4 or $5 a galleon is a “good thing.” He’s doesn’t have to drive the kids around or commute to work, so why should he care if it affects you?

According to Industry Week, the democrat‘s Cap and Tax scheme is a really bad idea for the American economy.

John at Powerline points out that “The days when “whistle blowers” were popular on the left are gone”. The moonbat view is that anyone who dares to “investigate an Obama crony” deserves whatever they get.

While on the topic of our Dear Leader‘s illegal firing of Gerald Walpin, the inspector general of AmeriCorps, Byron York has some advice on how to see that truth gets out.

Michelle Malkin has a story on ObamaCare that our Dear Leader and his cronies don’t want you to read.

According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, the democrats’ $1 Trillion Health Care Plan will Cost 23 Million Americans their Private Insurance.

Some leftist homosexuals are starting to figure out that our Dear Leader and the DNC have used them as “useful idiots”. Dudes (and dudettes, and whatever sexual identity you may have), it was clearly obvious to anyone not blinded by an overdose of BDS that you were going to get thrown under the bus by BHO! If you are finally getting serious, not only do you need to stop supporting the democrats, but start firmly supporting the Libertarian Party. It’s the only party that truly doesn’t care what consenting adults do or with each other and strongly believes that it’s none of the government’s business either. Until you do that, the DNC is just going to keep screwing you over in ways you don’t like!

Two interesting bits of energy news

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

First, the price of oil is going up. It’s over $66 a barrel and show signs of continuing to go up.
Ace thinks that our Dear Leader is going to loose some of his popularity as gas prices climb over $3 a galleon and shoot toward $4 a galleon.
Quite possibly, but then a lot of his supporters, like our Dear Leader, want gas prices over $4 a galleon. They want to kill the SUV and the suburban mom’s best buddy, the minivan. They want solar and wind power generation stations built, but not in their neighborhood.
The GOP should make the most of rising energy costs, and energy costs will rise due to the Cap & Tax scheme going through the democrat controlled congress, by pointing out how our Dear Leader and the democrats are blocking access domestic sources sources like oil, natural gas and coal. They are also blocking the choice of many serious environmentalists, Nuclear Power.
Ace may have a point, since unemployment is continuing to rise, and increased inflation is pretty much a sure thing.

The other bit of energy news comes from Planetizen. It seems that domestic underused natural gas capacity could almost completely replace our current coal-generated electrical energy. Natural gas burns much cleaner than coal and can be used to power motor vehicles as well. Coal can be converted to a liquid fuel, but it is generally less clean than using natural gas.

Bottom line, the spike in energy prices doesn’t have to happen, or at least it doesn’t need to be as bad. The spike will occur because Barack Hussein Obama and the democrats in Congress want higher energy prices to drive their political agenda. If the GOP can’t build a message around that, they are political incompetents who deserve to lose. The only problem with that that American people will pay the price of the democrat’s political agenda with a longer and deeper recession and a declining dollar as inflation climbs.

A quick “climate change” roundup

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

First off, Communist China isn’t planning on changing its behavior of building filthy dirty coal fired power plants at the rate of one a month and subsidizing gas prices to promote the habit of driving cars and trucks.

Next, I remember some of my leftist friends expressing joy over our Dear Leader appointing a scientist to the position of Energy Secretary. Well, now this scientist is proposing painting house roofs white and “lighting” road surfaces in order to reduce “global warming.” Can somebody please point out to this scientist that the global temperature has been actually been decreasing for the past decade.

I blame George Bush

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Here is yet another thing we can blame George W. Bush, 43rd President of the United States of American for.

Air Quality Improved During Bush Administration.

Among the findings: Carbon monoxide decreased by 39 percent, ozone by 6 percent, and sulfur dioxide by 32 percent.

“Pick any category you want and pollution levels are generally lower than they were seven years ago,” said Steven Hayward, the policy analyst who authored the report, titled “Index of Leading Environmental Indicators,” for the conservative think tank.

“(Environmental groups) said air pollution was out of control, but this was always more about politics than it was fact,” Hayward said.

…in looking over the data on air quality from the Bush years, Hayward notes that levels of most air pollutants decreased at a faster rate than they did during the Clinton administration.

That’s right kids, the Watermelons were playing politics rather than focusing on the environment.

The Global Warming Crisis is officially over.

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Oprah, a major supporter of our Dear Leader and all the politically correct celebrity causes that are popular this week gave this advice to the graduating class of Duke University,

“It’s great to have a private jet. Anyone that tells you that having your own private jet isn’t great is lying to you.”

She is clearly not concerned about the “SUV-years” per mile of carbon produced by her private jet or its effect on the environment.

But then, neither are other rich folks who fly private jets all over the place, such as Al Gore or Laurie David or the rest of the “Gulfstream Liberals.” At least Oprah is honest about it.

Power to Save the World: The Truth About Nuclear Energy by Gwyneth Cravens

An environmentalist opposed to Nuclear Energy did some honest research and came to the conclusion that only Nuclear Power can provide the base load of clean electricity needed. Actual science trumps rhetoric.

Obama blocks clean, safe & plentiful electrical power

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

The American Thinker reports that our Dear Leader is planning on killing any new Nuclear Power Plants by cutting funding for storage of what should be reusable fuel.

This is a clear indication that our Dear Leader feels that pandering to the watermelon moonbats that make up his base is more important than rebuilding the American economy and energy independence. Personally, I’m not surprised.

Green Politics

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

The politics of environmentalism, and that of watermelons, is getting some press.

First, our Dear Leader is having problems getting his own party, with a controlling majority in both houses of Congress, to buy into his Cap and Tax scheme.

The president invited 36 House Democrats to the White House Tuesday morning to discuss a path forward on the bill in an effort to bridge divides that threaten to torpedo one of the touchstones of Obama’s young presidency.

All of these democrats have an eye on the calendar. BHO knows he needs to shove the worst of his socialist agenda down the throats of Americans while his party has the majority. So he wants to get as much done before the 2010 elections as possible.
Congressional democrats, especially those in the House are also looking at the 2010 elections. They are going to be up for reelection then, not Barry. If their districts get slammed economically for what the congressional Republicans are accurately calling “…a declaration of economic war on the midwest by liberals on Capitol Hill,” those Congressional democrats could loose their next election.

To make it worse, the White House is still backing ethanol, a clear sign they are in the pockets of the Corn lobby. Most Americans have figured out that using food crops to make fuel don’t make sense on economic or environmental reasons. If Team Lightbringer had the guts to cut corn based fuel from their plan, and focus on switchgrass or wood chips, they would have more creditability, but that would mean having to give up the corn lobby money.

Then you have the “environmentalists” fighting against clean energy sources.

Some environmentalists, who have successfully fought a wind farm on the border of Oregon and Washington, are trying to block a massive solar plant in the Mojave desert. And now an Oregon county is considering a ban on wind power in the foothills of the blue mountains.

Sound familiar? Remember it was liberal democrat Senators Kerry & Kennedy who blocked a wind farm because it would effect the view from their Mansions.

As much as most environmentalists down play “dissension in the ranks”, it’s there.
That is because there are groups with very different goals hiding the “green.”
There are actual Environmentalists who really do care about what is best for the planet and humanity, and then there are the watermelons, who show a thin green skin to world, but are Red to the core. Their goal is the promotion of a socialist agenda and as one of the founders of Greenpeace has pointed out, they have hijacked his movement in order to do so.

Then there are the ones that George Carlin correctly identified, they are just looking for a clean place to park their Volvo.

Update: Michelle Malkin has more data on how democrat Waxman is trying to bypass debate and shove our Dear Leader‘s Cap & Tax scheme through the House. She also has a list of democrat congressmen who are feeling the heat from outraged voters.

Actual Science Alert!

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

A warning to AGW cultists, actual science is used in video below to dispute Al Gore’s fear mongering.

Remember kids, Al Gore founded a company that sells “Carbon Credits.” Those are modern plenary indulgence payments to the AGW Cult the gullible make. Even the New York Times calls the practice a scam. If you are wondering why someone like Al Gore, former Senator and former Vice-President of the United States of America, is participating in an obvious scam based on junk science, I suggest you follow the advice of the man who wrote the screen play.

“Follow the money.”

Update: Al Gore Lies to Congress. What else did he lie about?

An electric compact car

Friday, April 24th, 2009

A step down from the luxury ride of the Tesla Type S Sedan is the Aptera, a compact sized electric car, which looks like it just rolled off a SciFi movie set.

The first sales will be limited to California, and then Florida and Texas. Seriously, I don’t see this thing being able to handle a New England winter.
