The Octagon

Going way, way, back to 1980 for this Chuck Norris classic. In this movie, he takes on his brother, played by Tadashi Yamshita (OK, one of them was clearly adopted), who went over to the “Dark Side” and set up a Ninja training camp for mercenaries. Norris, who is busy training for his next big fight, doesn’t want to get involved, but does anyway. Many the Ninja fall to his deadly, Ninjia killing inside crescent kicks. Of course there is the big brother on brother fight to the death, and plenty of gun fu as well.

Good Guys Wear Black

From the late 70s comes Chuck Norris’ first starring role. He plays a Vietnam Vet who’s unit was wiped out because politicans back home sold them out to the enemy. Years later, he gets his vengence! Bonus points for being Anne Archer’s first film role.

Friday B-Movie Pick – The Killer Elite

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

A good cold war thriller, The Killer Elite stars James Caan and Robert Duvall in this Sam Peckinpah flick. Excellent martial arts scenes as well. Good supporting roles from Mako, Bo Hopkins and Burt Young. It’s a tale of bloody revenge, complete with automatic weapons, shotguns, and ninja.  Yes, I said Ninja.

A Force of One

A Chuck Norris classic from 1979. Bill “Superfoot” Wallace also has a big presence in this film. For the star power, Jennifer O’Neill does quite nicely. Eric Laneuville plays Norris’ adopted son, in his second martial arts film (the first was 1974’s Black Belt Jones), and later appeared in “St. Elsewhere.”
