The ACLU's record, far from showing a momentary wavering from impartiality, is replete with attemps to reform American society according to the wisdom of liberalism. The truth of the matters is that the ACLU has always been a highly politicized organization. -- William Donohue, legal scholar
"I voted for the Democrats because I didn't like the way the Republicans were running the country. Which is turning out to be like shooting yourself in the head to stop your headache." -- Jack Mayberry

The New York Times now accepts that its liberal yuppie audience has been so successfully coccooned by their left-liberal bias that to inform them of discomfitting facts would constitute actual "cruelty." -- Ace
The western Left didn't give a tinker's damn for the fates of the Iranians, Lebanese, Nicaraguans, Vietnamese, Cambodians, Koreans, Cubans, Czechs, Hungarians, Poles, or even Russians, so long as the eeeevil American right-wingers were dealt a political defeat (and let's not even start on Israelis).

"I think it's a very legitimate aspect of American life to criticize and to disagree and to debate. But I want to say I think it's a lie to say that the president lied to the American people. I sat on the Robb-Silverman Commission. I saw many, many analysts that came before that committee. I asked every one of them--I said, 'Did--were you ever pressured politically or any other way to change your analysis of the situation as you saw?' Every one of them said no." -- Senator John McCain, Face the Nation, 11/13/2005
"Some folks ask me what the transition was like from NASCAR reporter to political reporter. It's easy. In one, you try to explain to your readers the significance of grown-ups getting paid exorbitant amounts of money to go around in circles indefinitely, always turning left. In the other, you get to interview racecar drivers." -- Blogger Mary K. Ham on the transition from NASCAR reporter to political reporter

"The American Left complains that we have no right to be the world's police force. On the contrary. We've been the world's janitor for almost a century, and after September 11, it became obvious it's better, safer, and more productive to change things instead of cleaning up after the mess." -- Tammy Bruce, The New American Revolution
"(T)he Left has moved so far to the left that this pro-choice, lesbian feminist is now considered a Right-Winger!" -- Tammy Bruce, The New American Revolution
"To translate it into UNIX system administration terms ... the post-modern, politically correct atheists were like people who had suddenly found themselves in charge of a big and unfathomably complex computer system (viz. society) with no documentation or instructions of any kind, and so whose only way to keep the thing running was to invent and enforce certain rules with a kind of neo-Puritanical rigor, because they were at a loss to deal with any deviations from what they saw as the norm. Whereas people who were wired into a church were like UNIX system administrators who, while they might not understand everything, at least had some documentation, some FAQs and How-tos and README files, providing some guidance on what to do when things got out of whack. They were, in other words, capable of displaying adaptability." -- Cryptonomicon
I do know that since Vietnam, liberals have viewed every exercise of American military power (with the exception of those undertaken by Bill Clinton) as preludes to disaster.

Unlike the liberal bloggers and readers, conservative bloggers and blog-readers are not, as a rule, diagnosable paranoid schizophrenics and general lunatics.

Conservative bloggers tend to discuss live, real issues. They take reasonable positions, certainly mainstream among conservatives, and reasonable even to moderates. (Even if moderates don't agree with this or that, it's not as if the position is simply absurd.)

Liberal bloggers tend to be obsessed with conspiracy theories, criminal investigations unlikely to result in convictions (and unrelated to actual policy debate, in any event), and general moonbattery. The basic dynamic of the sinestrosphere is everyone attempting to out-crazy each other, and, last time I checked, it's a million-way tie for first place. -- Ace

"I don't care what the public wants, I'm going to give it what it needs!" -- democrat Senator Christopher Dodd
"What would be the difference if we retreated and let the French and Germans make decisions for the world? We tried that twice in the last century. Isolationsim, refusing to accept our role in the world, and delaying our response to evildoers ultimately cost fifty-three million lives in World War 2 alone. The preemption policy of the Bush administration, taking the war to the enemy and exporting democracy and freedom, has liberated fifty million." -- Tammy Bruce, The New American Revolution

"Some of these days they are going to remove so much of the "hooey" and the thousands of things the schools have become clogged up with, and we will find that we can educate our brooks for about one-tenth the price and learn 'em something they might accidentally use after they escape." -- Will Rogers (1879-1935)
"The French are our cowardly-canaries-in-the-German-crazytime-coalmine. We'll know Germany is a threat again the moment the French start kissing our fat American asses again." -- Ace

The anecdotes on the insane, frothing-at-the-mouth liberals venting their spleens made me chuckle. There's nobody more intolerant and narrow-minded than an tolerant and open-minded liberal, is there?
Here's something I've noticed recently: Once I embraced the idea within myself that I wasn't going to even try to be "open-minded and tolerant of all cultures and ideologies" I actually became more open minded and tolerant than I was before! Isn't that wild?
It's like I have this big sphere of stuff I'll tolerate, and the stuff I won't tolerate exists outside the sphere. Take liberals for example. I tolerate 'em, sure. As a matter of fact, I think they're probably pretty necessary for a healthy society (can't have day without night and all that). Plus, if there were no liberals, what would people bicker about? The designated hitter rule?
But once you get into the spittle-flecked ravings of Ward Churchill or the creepy "pedophilia is a healthy life choice!" attitude of Nambla, well, they exist outside of my tolerance sphere, and I feel perfectly free in either ignoring or heaping big piles of steaming disgust on them. "That my alma mater would embrace an ambassador from one of America's declared and defeated enemies and in the same breath keep ROTC and military recruiters off campus shows where Yale's allegiance falls. Yale's actions show that they consider the U.S. military more evil than the Taliban." -- Yale alumnus and former Army Capt. Flagg Youngblood, Young America's Foundation program officer on Yale admitting Sayed Rahmatullah Hashemi, the deputy foreign secretary of the Taliban, into a nondegree program, with a chance to gain full degree status by 2006 [Washington Times, 3/2/2006]

"Pacifism is objectively pro-fascist. This is elementary common sense. If you hamper the war effort of one side, you automatically help out that of the other. Nor is there any real way of remaining outside such a war as the present one. In practice, 'he that is not with me is against me.'" -- George Orwell
"So we have a Democratic Party activist violating federal law by leaking classified information to an antiwar activist on the payroll of the Washington Post, which publishes the criminal leak and is awarded a prize by the left-wing Pulitzer committee." -- John at Powerline

"Hopely, she can become famous enough for having built her early career around "ass-fucking" or rumors of "ass-fucking" to deserve her own porno parody. Perhaps it will star an eager strawberry blond performer going by the name Anna Marie Coxx who will demonstrate far more "integrity" when it comes to "ass-fucking". Then it would serve our little wankette right if the public only confused them." -- llamajockey

"There is a reason the Democrats have had only two Presidents since 1968 and have managed to lose control of both houses of Congress in recent years. There is a reason they keep snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. And it’s not fraud and it’s not dirty politics and it’s not stupid voters. It’s the plain and simple fact that the majority of those who vote don’t like them." -- Path Sayjak

"Tolerance becomes a crime when applied to evil." -- Thomas Mann
"But the final version of the Thirteenth Amendment--the one ending slavery--has an interesting story of its own. Passed during the Civil War years, when southern congressional representatives were not present for debate, one would think today that it must have easily passed both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Not true. As a matter of fact, although passed in April 1864 by the Senate, with a vote of 38 to 6, the required two-thirds majority was defeated in the House of Representatives by a vote of 93 to 65. Abolishing slavery was almost exclusively a Republican party effort--only four Democrats voted for it."
Despite being an icon of the liberal '60s counter-culture, [Grace] Slick describes herself as a "life-long Republican".
"In a post-9/11 world, I feel that it's my duty as a woman to wear clingier clothing, flirt more outrageously, have more orgasms, an to get on top more often. In short, anything that's taboo to the Islamofacists." -- Shell
"My personal credo as a libertarian conservative: I think all attempts to reform your fellow-citizens or tell them how to live their lives are arrogant and tyrannical. THAT'S why I oppose Leftism. I want people to be free to manage their own lives. "Reform" is just authoritarianism. People are not playthings for anybody's theories or obsessions." -- John Ray, M.A., Ph.D.

"You know, besides voting Republican, I do unplug my phone charger, use fluorescent bulbs in my house, turn off my computer monitor, keep the heat at 68 all winter (for the kids), and walk to the train stop and take mass transit to work every day. Why? So I can afford to pay my taxes, fool." -- St. Kansas

let’s face it: nothing says "we value civil liberties" more than smoking bans, the surrender of private enterprise to a massive centrally-controlled government, municipal usurpation of private property to feed the common weal, and non-denominational holidays stripped of their celebratory cores and presented as simple, non-offensive husks, their blinking colored lights a reminder that even the most profoundly held beliefs can be reduced to low-wattage, community-approved superficiality -- Jeff Goldstein on liberals.
