The whole Vietnam issue was always going to be a loser for Kerry, but the Democrats and their allies in the media kept reassuring each other that the opposite was true. And of course the proof is that George W. Bush is now serving his second term as president, while Kerry is holding little talks in which he pathetically rails against the "submedia." -- Best of the Web

I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals -- if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. What is very disturbing about Palestinian sympathizers is the easy moral equivalency they give to the Israeli act of firing a missile at a clearly identified terrorist, and probably causing collateral damage, and a homicide bomber who blows up a busload of commuters or a sidewalk full of cafe customers.

"So I do think that there was a wing of ["mainstream left"] that is deeply reactionary and just essentially angry. There is a more professional wing of the movement and I would include in that the Democratic 527's, like America Coming Together, and I think they were motivated by their realization that McCain-Feingold had done enormous damage to their cause.
