The very notion of "criminal" in the sense that the NRA uses it is very problematic. It implies a rational choice. But the notion that one becomes a criminal as a rational and conscious choice is silly. ... My point, then, is that what the National Rifle Association casually dismisses as a "criminal" is not so much a criminal as a man in the state of nature,... -- Frank Silbermann, Tuesday 04-05-1994
"At last year's (2000) Mother's Day event in Denver, Jeff Wright was peacefully carrying a sign expressing his support of the Second Amendment, an action the First Amendment affirms is his right. One woman wearing a "Million Mom" T-shirt walked up and spat on him."
In Fort Collins last August, the "Million" Mom group advertised a "public" meeting, so a small group of civil arms activists, led by Bob Glass, showed up to take notes. Million Mom member Cherie Trine described Glass's group to Boulder Weekly columnist Wayne Laugesen as "a neo-Nazi group that wants to terrorize the whole community. "Fuzzy-thinkers ask: why retain the Second Amendment, given that crime is ebbing and the government has gone over 200 years without becoming a tyranny? They might as well ask someone with good dental hygiene why he feels the need to brush three times a day, given that he's never had any cavities." -- YHC
"We need to ask ourselves why liberals have made gun confiscation such a priority. I think it is to distract us from the disastrous results of liberal social engineering. The irrational shootings are due to the success of liberals in achieving their goals." -- Paul Craig Roberts

Support all forms of gun licensing; in fact, all the causes NRA opposes." -- Former Boston Globe Editor Tom Winship, April 24 Editor & Publisher.

When anti-gun activists list the number of deaths per year from firearms, they neglect to mention that 60 percent of the 30,000 figure they often use are suicides. They also fail to mention that at least three-quarters of the 12,000 homicides are criminals killing other criminals in disputes over illicit drugs, or police shooting criminals engaged in felonies. Subtracting those, we are left with no more than 3,000 deaths that I think most would consider truly lamentable.
In 2000, Jay Callaham, a Redcoat reenactor from Virginia, ex-tank officer (USA/NCNG), life member of the NRA and M1A devotee extraordinaire, attended with his unit (3rd Regt., Foot Guards) in his role as a British officer. The Centers for Disease Control's own statistics indicate that firearms are rather far down the roster: Deaths and injuries from swimming pools and falls from ladders annually outnumber those from firearms. Accidental firearm deaths have been declining steadily for nearly 100 years and are now at an all-time low.
"When Wheeler says research proves that the number of people saved by guns is far greater than lives lost and adds that "there are more than a dozen criminology studies that show anywhere from 600,000 to 2.5 million instances each year in which Americans use firearms to defend themselves against violent attack," [Morley] Safer feigns shock." -- 60 Minutes - May 12, 2002

Five gallons of gasoline have the destructive power of a stick of dynamite. The average tank holds fifteen gallons, yet no background check is necessary for dispenser or dispensee. As long as gasoline is freely available, gun control is beside the point." -- John Taylor Gatto, "Underground History of American Education," Chapter 1, page 4
"Great Britain's medieval deodand law, requiring prosecution and punishment of an inanimate object involved in a death, was repealed in the 19th Century, but it is alive and well in Maine. A bill passed the Maine House requiring guns used in a homicide to be destroyed, though other guns seized by police are sold through dealers. The president of Maine Citizens Against Handgun Violence called it a "common sense idea." Deep thinkers from the Middle Ages would agree." --NEAL KNOX

"The bias against armed self-defense is one of the most insidious forms of victimization of women." -- Dr. Michael S. Brown
"[Y]ou may have heard innumerable times that murder rates are much lower in countries like Britain or Germany, which have more restrictive gun control laws than ours.
